That makes things much more difficult than a similar franchise in let’s say Tennessee.
However, Fisher and Davis are both extremely cash poor owners and are some of the worst owners equipped to deal with a state/city that opposes state funding to the level California/Oakland does.
The Warriors are a bit of a different situation, given Lacob’s wealth and moving to SF was clearly a business/real property decision, whereas Fisher and Davis both looked for the best deal form taxpayers.
I think more component (and wealthier) ownership groups would’ve gotten a deal done. Fisher should’ve sold the team for a massive gain.
