I don't know. I attended BYU in the 90's with some siblings.
We had a good friend who had joined the church and was trying to play football for BYU.
He was a minority and stood out for his good looks and athletic build.
He came to our ward twice in the fall.
Everyone was bending over backward to make him feel welcome.
He came to our ward again at the end of the year. This time nearly everyone greeted him by name and our EQ President even asked him if he wanted to introduce his friends he had brought to church - referring to my brother and me who had not missed a day of church all school year.
All I'm saying is it's probably a mixed bag.

I disagree. Despite BYU’s subjective flaws it has to be the most welcoming school, fanbase and program in the country.
