Your point is valid. Some rain bands are up into Georgia & SC now.
The hurricane's eye is currently just north of the Yucatan Peninsula. That's a pretty long reach. Once the hurricane nears the panhandle, it's not out of the realm of possibility for some rain bands to reach Texas. The ever optimistic Lloyd Christmas thinks there's a chance. By Saturday, however, the storm will be too far north.
