He is in his rights to quit, but saying he's not quitting is incorrect
In a team sport, especially in a role of leadership as he has, there is absolutely an obilgation to his teammates. In this case, he felt quitting was more important than that obligation. Fine, but you don't get to be immune to criticism because it's financially more beneficial to go elsewhere.
