Sagarin is a decent rating system, particularly at the end of the year, but if you think there is zero room for error in the 6 spots between two teams, 25% of the way through a season, you are clueless.
It would be more accurate to say that BYU and K State are close to the same caliber of team, as of right now. BYU was terrible last year, and that is why we are weighted so poorly in spite of the fact that we have beaten two teams who rank higher than us.
Games from the current season should hold a lot more weight then the entire season of last year.
