I think some of this credit has to go to Kalani. He excudes that "nice guy" vibe and wants to always be a good sport...
I know that sometimes he gets flak for things like "love and learn" and at times I worrya bout him being too nice especially with his players and not holding guys accountable, but at the same time there is an upside to his ways as a coach.
I see his players often will knock an opponent down but then be the one who offers the hand to help them up. I love that attitude. I have had the opportunity to coach sports and activities at the High School level. When I coached football I preached "knock the tar out of your opponent but then help them up." When I was a debate coach I told my kids, "I want you to destory your opponent in a debate but I want you do it respectfully. Don't be rude and at the end of each round smile and shake their hand and say 'good job.' Even if they weren't nice to you."

I tjink the fans have taken that to heart. BYU has never been a scary place for opposing fans, but I know that a concerted effort has been made by the fans and the ROC to be loud and make life difficult for the team, but to do it in a way that is not mean or malicious. I think BYU has seen to much of that vitriol turned at them, that they maybe don't want to reflect that back.

Kalani may have his shortocmings but he is a good guy and a class act, and the fans have adopted his persona, and the fact that we have Utah consistently making fools of themselves and are fast becomign the most hated team in the BIg 12 just makes the love we are getting that much better.
