They don't want to split money with teams that don't add value.
They have to get to at least 8 teams - after that, adding teams that don't add value is just adding mouths to feed.
So they aren't all that interested in adding Hawaii, Wyoming, UNM, etc. They may have to add some of them to get to 8 and be a conference, but they're going to leave the bottom of the MWC behind.
