Indy? How much better would he have done with those Indy schedules than what Bronco and Sitake did? Would he have been able to recruit better? So may other X factors and variables and unknowns in that alternate hypothetical. Whitt is a great coach, as proven in that 2008 season capped by the big win over Bama in the Sugar Bowl, but much of the sustained greatness and consistency since then may well have been helped by Pac-12 inclusion and the wealth of resources that gave their program.

We may now just be seeing the tip of the iceberg in year 2 for the greatness BYU could potentially have, even under Sitake with the increased resources now starting to flow in for BYU. And BYU isn't even a full-share member yet. That doesn't happen until next year. I believe Utah had to wait 2 to 3 years to get to a full share status as well though when they first entered the P5 ranks.
