I grew up in Mesa and have a lot of friends who went to ASU. There are those who got in to both schools but chose to go
to ASU because of full ride scholarships and the fact they could live at home and commute and save money that way as well. They generally have no problems with BYU. Then there are those who didn't get into BYU and chose to go to ASU. Some of them (a small minority to be sure) are extremely bitter towards BYU and will find anything they can use to bash BYU.
