ESPN+ has a lot of clunky aspects that can have a real effect on the viewing experience.

For me specifically, I always watch the game delayed at least an hour, usually on my phone since the rest of my family has no interest. There is no option to “start from the beginning” so every time I turn on the game I have to mute it and squint my eyes so I don’t see the score and rewind it.

Also, the skip forward button has to buffer every time I press it so skipping a commercial takes about 30 seconds instead of 3 seconds like on YouTube TV.

And if I swipe down from the right corner of the screen to check the iPhone command center (to check the time or whatever) it completely exits the game and I’m back to squinting again so I don’t see the score when I reopen it. If the game finishes in real time and I’m not live yet and I exit for any reason, I have to wait 30-60 minutes or more before they upload the game to turn it on again.

And the general streaming video quality doesn't reach full resolution as often.

And these are just the challenges I see with the way I watch it. Those who watch on TVs or other ways have their own challenges. 1st world problems, I know.
