had gone conservative and seemed content to go into the half up 3, knowing they would be getting the ball. 2 straight conservative run plays and they bled nearly a minute off the clock before calling a 3rd straight conservative run play that wasn't going to get the 1st down even without the fumble.
They had time, imo, to continue calling the offense that had picked us apart and likely easily get in FG range, but not after they'd burned over a minute off the clock.
But then they fumble, we score, they are obviously now rattled and the HC decides, "Screw it, let's try to get a score now before the half." And his rattled QB throws a pick. That was the time to settle his boys down, tell them it's okay, we'll go into the half only down 4, get the ball, and march it down the field like we had the entire first half. Mistakes happen, that's okay, just keep playing their game and they win.
But he didn't and it snowballed in a hurry. Seems like a good man and coach, but that was not smart.
