One time, after an evening game v Hawaii that was midnight for us, they still had the coach's call-in show, and nobody was calling in to talk to LaVell, because, well, 2am, so my dad called in. When he told LaVell we're in Alaska, LaVell just abandoned football conversation and started asking my dad questions, good salmon fishing? How's moose hunting? Dad offered to host him and Patty for a fishing trip. The emcee (don't recall if it was Greg or if that was before his time) hopped in once to try to steer the conversation back to football, and LaVell shushed him and said he's about got a guided fishing trip worked out, don't mess it up for me. And, since nobody else was in the call queue, the guy just said, "Well, since there's nobody else calling in, you're listing to the Coach's Call-In Show with LaVell Edwards, and Garth, from Alaska.
