His mom is Chinese (moved to the US to get married), but was happy to mostly adopt the Hopi culture and very little was ever said about the Chinese side of the family. He was one of the earliest Lamanite Generation (now Living Legends) dancers at BYU. He was part of one of the first performing groups to tour China from the US over 40 years ago. He was able to meet many of his Chinese family for the first (and only?) time.

He taught Native American focused classes at BYU and later UVU for many years. Fun to hear his stories. He married a native Hawaiian, so some similar dance and other traditions.

Nice that some still work to keep the traditions alive. He says the traditions are quickly fading for most Native Americans. It makes him sad.
