As a kid in the 80's, I remember having seats in the south endzone. I don't remember exactly when it would happen, but possibly after the 1st touchdown, a bunch of people would throw the old hard tostada shells like frisbee's onto the field. I always thought it was funny as a kid.
Around that same time there were two other distinct memories that I always loved:
1. Before they put up the nets, field goals and extra points would leave the football in the stands. Then the football would be passed around the stadium one time before it was returned to the field.
2. Occasionally, someone in the stands would throw a paper airplane from the stands. If someone had a really great plane, it would actually make it out onto the field. All in the crown who happened to witness the plane would start cheering as soon as it was apparent it would make it to field level. Most just died in the stands...
Two other memories that I won't elaborate on, but the crowd wave was very popular, and people would bring beach balls and they would get tossed around in the crowd.
Good times....
