American cheese is just regular cheese with a little milk and two specific salts. I make it myself from
Tillamook cheese or cache valley. It's superior on burgers and very few chefs disagree with that. Yes the Kraft regular singles are less cheese and less good, but it's still based in cheese, milk, salts. The premium kraft are better though.
