I kinda thought the same. Not sure it’s really hiding stuff from K-State…
What I do think it is amounts to, as the OP notes, is Hill saying the following. We are better defensively than WYO on offense, and we are just going to force them to beat us straight up without taking many chances, because we don’t think they can.

I do think that Hill will hit Kansas State with some wrinkles we have not shown, but I think that is essentially standard practice for most coordinators. There’s a good chance Kansas State will be able to anticipate most of what we can throw at them.

I remember playing a very good offense who had not run veer all year. Our coaches prepared us to defend veer because they said in their self scout that they would implement it against us if they were the opposition. I kind of said “thanks a lot,” because I played at the outside backer spot, which is one of the areas the veer attacks. Sure enough, they came out and ran veer a couple times. We were ready for it. But they were better overall and still outplayed us. We held them well below their average but had a key player turn in his worst game of the season. That dude played scared. And we lacked sufficient belief that we could knock off a #1 squad in the classification above us. Those factors may have been the difference. I hope we don’t see either similarities from BYU on Saturday.

I think BYU will be ready. But I’d take the K State roster on talent, man by man. We’re going to have to have a few someones step up and make some big plays while the rest of our roster plays solidly. I hope that’s what happens.
