One of my neighbors is a higher-up at Pixar. Over the last 5 yrs she's lamented
to me more than a few times that lots of the movies they make weren't doing near the numbers they expected. I pointed out to her exactly what the article is referencing: most parents don't want to take their to kids to movies with these types of themes introduced. I even told her about CB and things parents on here have commented about certain Pixar movies.

A little over a year ago she said the were in a meeting with the leadership at Pixar and the following was said (paraphrased based on my memory): "We are making the exactly to kind of movies and telling the kind of stories that we want to tell (meaning Bay Area DEI type themes), but the rest of the country is not ready for our stories. We need to start making our movies for the mainstream again."

Maybe they really took that to heart.
