long and doesn't look very smooth or fluid - like he's overthinking every part of his mechanics. Never gets into a rhythm and can't hit the strike zone, especially when someone gets on base. Starts throwing fastballs to get strikes at which point he gets hammered.

His velo is down about 1.5 mph on average which shouldn't make a huge difference since he still throws gas but it's enough to wonder about. I also wonder if through all of his laboring, he's tipping his pitches or a certain pitch.

I have no idea and throwing jello at the wall on some of these things, but feel like of all our good young pitchers he is the best and it's so frustrating. He is probably more surprised and frustrated than anyone.
