I think what you’re describing is potentially chaotic and assumes what I think is often a knee-jerk position– – the starter struggled, so the backups must be better.

Sometimes it proves true. Sometimes you do find someone who is a real gamer and/or brings something different to the table. Brandon Doman, Ryan Hancock, etc. But I think more often than not the starter is the starter for a reason, and the same as true of the backups. I don’t think you get overly quick on the trigger finger once you have named a guy.

That said, Jake turned in a lousy performance, albeit in a big win, and has little rope left, especially when it comes to the turnovers. If Bohanan and/or particularly Hillstead hit the field and light it up, you’re welcome to say I told you so, particularly in the latter case. I just do not see anything compelling that either clearly coulda/woulda/shoulda been on the field at this point. I’ve yet to see any respectable BYU pundit anywhere who has suggested anything like what you’re advocating. If you are that far ahead of the curve and prove to be correct, you’ll be in a great position to take a bow.
