to great QB. You can’t take a mule and train it to be a thoroughbred.
You have to recruit and land the thoroughbreds. I don’t expect BYU to land the nations top 25 QB caliber players year in and out. But I do expect BYU, with its history and resources to be able to land a top 60 QB recruit year in and year out.
The fact is, Arod and Kalani have struggled to recruit. Their deficiencies were hidden for a time while byu played bad schedules and also were fortunate that Zach and Jaren turned out to be solid QBs.
Without having other solid QBs in the wing, and while continuing their recruitment struggles it has now led to BYU having the QB room that is equivalent to the likes of a New Mexico St.
If recruiting doesn’t show noticeable improvements at the QB and RB position then BYU fans really need to seriously reset their expectations.
And no, John Beck’s opinion the last 5 years hasn’t done squat for BYU.
