I felt the exact same thing in 2011 with Heaps. But I was wrong then.
And it took 5 games before coaches realized that Nelson was the better QB for that team.

You talk about all the time they spend evaluating. As a part of this evaluation, up till about 2 weeks left in camp, Bohannon was "evaluated" as the better option, but then Retzlaff emerged at the very end.

In evaluating it is often tough to know how a player will perform in a real game before you actually play it. That is why even from the very beginning of the Southern Illinois game we rotated heavy in certain positions.

So with the competition seemingly that close, Bohannon proving in the past that he can lead a team to the B12 championship, and with him going the first 6 games of the season at Baylor without an Interception, seems like logically we might had wanted him to come in an provide a spark.

Doesn't mean he would then be the starter for the next game, but seems like we should had given him a chance IMO.

I fear that Retzlaff might be a better practice QB than a game QB under pressure, I don't know. I felt he looked really good against Southern Illinois, and hope that this was just an off night for him. But I think we should let Retzlaff still start on Saturday, but keep him on a short leash.
