Well they expected them to beat BYU by 11 so...
Look, this was a measuring stick game for both SMU and BYU.
It's very clear SMU has major deficiencies with no clear fix unless they have some amazing QB hiding somewhere. We know a LOT more about SMU after that game. They are not good
