I've seen a lot of reviews of Pica Rica over the last year or so
Most people like it. Some don't like the service. I think that's pretty common with restaurants these days since it's hard to get and retain good people. Most like the BBQ though.

Of course several people who have moved from Texas or other good BBQ location don't think it is as good as Texas BBQ. Well that's to be expected, nothing in St George is as good as where they came from. All I can say is, why don't you move back where you came from?

Several people complained that it's too expensive. Well that's how good BBQ is, it's expensive. That meat costs money these days and overhead costs are high as well. So they have to charge a lot to cover the costs and make some profit.

One review said they went in for lunch and got a pound of brisket, two sausages, two sides and some Mexican cokes, maybe something else like desert plus tax and tip and the bill was $83. Now that is a lot for two people for lunch. But most people won't eat a half pound of brisket for lunch.

Another reviewer said they got a brisket taco for $12. That's a lot for a taco but brisket isn't cheap.

Apparently the store has one line where you order meat by the half pound. Maybe that is take out or whatever. Another line where you order sandwiches or tacos, whatever all they have. They you go find a table and sit down until your food is ready. Some reviewers said they get busy sometimes and the service is very slow and the workers are kind of rude.

I looked up the Yelp reviews and they were mostly positive, average 4 stars or whatever. Some with the same kind of complaints.

So you'll probably get some good BBQ but it will be on the pricey side and don't expect too much from the service. The screen shot of the menu shows a half pound of brisket for $18. That is likely an old pic so it might be a bit more by the time I get in to try it.

I probably wouldn't try their sides and stuff. I don't need expensive mac and cheese or potato salad or Mexican cokes. I'll get some BBQ meats or maybe a sandwich or taco and take it home to eat. I don't much like busy places where you order at a counter. If I like the BBQ I'll probably go back and try other things.

I haven't been there but when I get to St George I'll try the place. It's located where the "25 Main" famous for their cupcakes restaurant was located. So 25 N. Main, St George. I liked the "25 Main" restaurant, went a few times. Too bad it's gone. St George is a hard place on restaurants. Several restaurants have closed over the last few years. Maybe as more transplants come in they will eat out more.

I'm not a true connoisseur of BBQ but I've eaten at plenty of BBQ joints all over Texas, Kansas City, Memphis, Nashville, etc. So I do know good BBQ when I get it. I'll be the judge if Pica Rica has good BBQ.

I noted that the proprietor knew what the big-time reviewer looked like and said he recognized him as soon as he walked in the door and ran over to talk to him. So whatever BBQ they served him you can bet it was the best they had on hand right then. Kind of unfair since with BBQ it can be hit or miss depending on what they they give you. I've gotten good and not good from BBQ places.
