Understand why critics wouldn't like it. It's just not a good movie. Weird lighting, weird acting, (Nancy being the weirdest, by far), weird pacing. You could tell that they were trying to force in famous one-liners from Reagan that just disrupted the flow of the movie.
The whole Russian spy telling the story thing just felt off the entire time. it had a hokey "let me tell you a story" feel that felt fictional in a non-fictional story. Not to mention you could tell it was leading to some "I vow not to be communist" moment that just felt forced and unreal within a story that was actually real.
So, while I can see why people would like the content. I think they overlook just how bad the movie is because of the content. I also suspect a lot of the viewer reviews are from people that maybe haven't even seen the movie (which is super common).
