Our mission was very progressive (and successful) with special interest contacting. Eastern Europe.

In a couple of cities, missionaries held Super Saturday sporting events where we would teach American flag/touch football and play soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, and yard games. These events were usually held in the afternoon following after a few hours of wildly-successful beginner, intermediate, and advanced English classes (5 or 6 missionary companionships and members participating). We would get hundreds of participants each week (and also held a couple of mid-week evening English classes) and we counted more than one thousand participants a couple of times. We advertised on a local radio station - hooked up by a member who worked there.

We would invite participants to Church and to Gospel lessons and discussions that we would intermittently work into the schedule. Lots of participation and several baptisms.

Much more effective than knocking doors and street contacting - though we did plenty of that too.
