Didn’t Kansas St upset Texas that same day and that rounded BYU’s chances of “getting in”
I was on my mission so missed that season, but wasn’t there an upset in the Big 12 championship game that took away BYU’s chances at a better bowl?

What hurt more I believe was Texas upsetting Nebraska. I could be wrong in the teams but the BIG12 had a huge upset
