It's one of the highlights of my year. When we lived in Ohio, West Virginia and Florida, we'd actually fly out each year. My wife and I live in Utah County now, but we actually get a hotel for Monday through Thursday night so we can live the experience. We used to go from 8 till closing at night, but we're in our 60's now and head to the hotel in the evening. I can't even explain the level and depth of what I've learned in all my years attending. It is truly transformative, and I don't say that lightly. It's like having a personal deep spirtual experience and not being effectively able to explain it to someone to the level you've had the experience. I've learned some of the deepest doctrine ever in some of those classes. You'll go away wondering what's wrong with all the members in Utah that they don't come, but Sssshhhhh, we don't want them to find out. It would overwhelm the campus.
Teachers: Some of them have gotten a bit along in years, but I still pop in to see some of them, because they were really good
Scott Anderson
David Christensen
Kerry Muhlestein
Anthony R. Sweat
Bradley Wilcox
Randal A. Wright
Justin B. Top
Donald W. Parry
Muhlestein, Sweat and Top are currently my favorites. I love Brad Wilcox, but not in his capacity as a member of the YM General Presidency. I can't wait until he gets released and is back teaching just on his own.
Parking -seems to change annually. We usually park in Marriott Center and bus over to other parts. Honestly, the best speakers are usually in the biggest venues at the MC or Wilkinson Center Ball Room. I probably spend 75% of my time in those facilities.
Food - We do the Food Court for many meals, but also like lunch at MOA. Evenings we generally go to local restaurants. Breakfast we get at hotel. The Bookstore has ample snacks or even things like bagels for breakfast.
One warning. Be careful driving home at the end of the week. I know this sounds unusual, but having attended so many years, we've learned that after such an impactful spiritual experience, the dark side seems to prick at us. I can't tell you how many stupid arguments my wife and I have engaged in on the ride home. Enough that we now recognize the trap and try to just talk through stuff we've learned and don't come down to family and reality until we're home.
