That was one of the biggest problems that led to program stagnation 97-2000
Coaching staff was a retirement home. Held on to old assistants too long: French, Schmidt, Pella, Ramage. Good programs have assistants moving onward and upward. Look at golden era BYU in the 80s: Scovill, Tollner, Holmgren all moved onward and upward to better opportunities.
