Japan Coug Intervention Needed
Florida is not a new market for the SEC, so the value-add isn't as great as you
might think. If Florida weren't already in the conference, the SEC would be all over FSU.

For the BIG, I think it's different. I think they're worried about academics (esp. no AAU), culture, and geography, since their conference is already stretched way out and Florida is far away from anything else in the BIG (Maryland is the closest school). I've always heard that Virginia and North Carolina are the two ACC schools that the BIG was most interested in (not including Notre Dame, of course), as they are a better academic, cultural, and geographic fit.

I think both conferences may also be worried about over-expanding too quickly, which many already fear they have done. Maybe after they get a chance to digest their recent adds and get used to their unwieldy size and all the travel, in a few years they'll be ready to think about further expansion.
