a comment that was very fitting (paraphrasing because I don't remember the exact verbiage used):
"Prime Day was hyped to be like Black Friday, but ended up like the discount rack at TJ Maxx".

It has gotten better, but it is still underwhelming. Come to think of it, Black Friday is declining as well, though.
