Live-in academy was pretty unique in the US at the time and they would get people from all over. Since then they’ve had to focus a lot more on their allotted geographic footprint and everyone else’s academy’s have gotten better.
All that said Gozo is on the roster and they usually have at least one (usually a goalie)
