their latest (2023) vehicle dependability rankings, below Kia at #3 (and #1 among non-luxury brands). The Top 5 are:

Lexus
Genesis
Kia
Buick
Chevrolet

The Korean brands are very good quality wise, probably generally better than the Japanese brands these days.

In thr JD Power Initial Quality Study (which JD Power says is the best predictor of future dependability rankings, as these vehicles age), Toyota does much worse, coming in below average, and 13 spots behind Kia.
