It's the funhouse mirror effect. People don't see themselves objectively when
they look in the mirror. Michael Jackson is a prime example. He thought he was getting better looking with each surgery, when in fact he was getting worse.

It's smarter to trust a neutral third party when it comes to what looks good, something like a cosmetic surgery jury. If 12 people agree that a certain alteration is needed, go for it. Otherwise, stop seizing up on perceived flaws when looking in the mirror.
