They talked about movies losing their value due to competition and most ending
up on streaming within a few months of release. They also talked about the risk of spending a big budget on original ideas, which is why they don't do it. Unfortunately for them, the 54th Marvel sequel or 10th remake of something just don't create the buzz as the first sequel or remake. That's why I started thinking about how they could capitalize on making sequels, but for IP that is more fresh. But if they are too scared to spend a lot of money on original ideas, then how can there be fresh IP? And that's when I thought of TV. There is probably one show a year that becomes a cultural touchstone. It seems that type of show could be the fresh IP worth turning into a movie. I know there are challenges. The formats are different. The long form format of TV allows writers to do more. But something like this is worth a shot.
