I've changed my oil for the last several years
And I haven't paid much attention to how it would cost if I go somewhere else.
Oil and oil filter is, at most $30. I can get it cheaper if I find oil on sale.

At Jiffy Lube getting an oil change and they asked if I wanted to replace the fuel filter for 250.00. It's a 35.00 part

Did they crumple up some leaves and put them on the filter before showing you?

That's the air filter, and yes, leaf crumbling is a required step for Jiffy...

I remember a feather on mine once. Just said "looks fine to me"…

Depending on your billable rate, that may be a good deal.

One has to steel oneself for the onslaught of upsell attempts before going there

Normally I do, same with my Brakes. Just didn't have time to do it before leaving out of town.

How much do you save by changing your own oil?
ochobeeguy
May 24, 10:11am
For me it's around $70 saved, assuming the $106 for a full synthetic change

70% if you’re full synthetic.

I’ve been changing my own with full synthetic for years. Saves a ton and my last 3 cars have all gone over 200k miles

Just change your own oil. It's so easy and peace of mind that it's done right.

I once took my van to Jiffy Lube. They told me the coolant cap was failing.

Same with my wife. She said "I'd better not get one here, they tend to fail…"

Why would you go there? It’s about the worst place to go.
