I can't answer #1 since I don't have Ubiquiti cameras but I agree with
SalmonOfCapistrano on #2. All of my access points are directly wired via Ethernet to the switches. They also get their power from the switch via the Ethernet cable because the switches and access points are all PoE (power over Ethernet) capable. I do have one U6 Extender AP which meshes via WiFi with my Bedroom Hallway wired access point. It only needs to be plugged into a wall outlet.

Ubiquiti APs have gotten pretty good with supporting WiFi devices roaming between access points if there is a closer one with a stronger connection as you move about the house.

I also wire everything possible which is why I have three switches throughout the house in strategic locations; one in the office (router, access point, two desktop computers, Raspberry Pi, HDHomerun, two NAS, etc) , one behind the TV in the family room (two access points, TV, MyQ garage door controller, HDHomerun), and one downstairs (access point, TV).
