That’s a big if…I think KY is a smarter coach than to load up so many guys at…
…the 4 like adding both Berke and Mag along with Waterman and Koz. KY is a smart coach and if he’s going to load up a position it will be guys who can play the 1 thru 3 spots, especially guys who can be primary ball-handlers in the offense. I’ve been saying for a while BYU needs more 1’s, but not to have has backups behind Hall, rather to play multiple 1’s simultaneously.

Go through Big12 rotations last season and you see that most teams run with dual PG’s. Even our 1st round opponent in the NCAA tourney ran with dual PG’s on the floor most of the game. When the game hit crunch time it was those 2 PG’s that took over the game and carried them to victory scoring something like 13 of their last 15 pts, either with layups or attacking the rim, getting fouled and going to the FT line.

We’ll miss Waterman because he was such a versatile player. There’s more to the game of bball than dunking or being an explosive athlete and Waterman showed those things by being so versatile on D, being able to step out and be a threat from 3 pulling opposing bigs away from the paint, crashing the boards hard, being a good passing big on the perimeter, moving w/o the ball effectively etc.

One of Waterman’s most impressive moments this season in my mind was his defense switching on screens on the perimeter vs Texas and their two PG’s Hunter and Alma’s. His D along with Jax brought enough quickness to stay in front of those 2 guys along with length to make it difficult for them to get clean looks.
