It is still the same. My kids take the test, and we don't list any schools to
submit their ACT scores to.

Then once they're done taking the test a few times, we pick the best score and have that reported to schools. You pay an extra $20 or something like that to do the reporting after the fact, but you avoid the risk of reporting a low score to a school. Supposedly even if you submit multiple ACT scores to BYU, BYU only considers the highest score. But still....

There's now a new wrinkle. ACT now reports a "superscore," which is the highest score across all your tests in each individual subject. They then take these individual high scores and create a new composite score. It's unclear whether BYU will or will not accept a superscore. Kids applying to schools that accept a superscore can take the ACT several times and focus in on a different subject each time. Get a great English score the first time you take the ACT, but bomb Science? No problem. Next time you take the ACT, don't worry about English. Answer C for everything and don't mentally fatigue yourself. Then when you get to the 4th section (Science), you're mentally fresh to do your best.
