While it's true there's an advantage to being willing to pay the tax, the assets being purchased (players) still have a market value of close to $220K which is the point and it's what Sportac tracks
The contention is the Dodgers are just buying players but what they are really doing is donating to the As and Pirates. They aren't getting extra value with their extra $100MM... kind of. Obviously it helps get players others won't pay for, but they pay a huge premium for them (as do a few other teams).
But the actual market value of our players is 7th or 8th highest in baseball.
