Baseball doesn't fit this because hitting and pitching are volatile in small sample sizes, which even a 7- game series is. The NBA doesn't seem to fit this because coaching over a long series seems to be able to exploit matchups so talent prevails.

The high energy style that BYU plays isn't conducive to next day games. Conference tourneys are problematic there.
