I am not knocking the overall talent of current BYU players. However, lateral quickness is not their strong suit. Some games they make up for it with help defense. Other times they get beat off the dribble so many times that is hard to outscore the opposition - even with three point shooters. Next year additions to the team should help a bit, but we could still use some more quickness.
Our effort on defense is usually pretty good and for a couple of team members it is outstanding. But Khalid’s is not quick. Nor is Johnson or Knell. They give all they have and that makes me like them. But we need a guy or two with the combination of good quickness and still good shooting.
Don’t mean to be negative about this year’s group. I like them. But every team has its strengths and weaknesses and, IMO, this team could use more lateral quickness.
