The lapses seemed to coincide with bursts of crowd noise. Wrubell mentioned that he turned their crowd microphone way down because their headset mics were picking up crowd noise more than usual. That may have been causing the ESPN commentators' lines to clip and there was some sort of limiter in there cutting the signal in order to prevent very bad audio effects from going out over the air.
