Izzo is one of the most hotheaded coaches around, and yet his players all know that he loves them deeply. It’s amazing to see how fiercely loyal his players are, even decades later. He’s passionate and emotional, but he shapes boys into men, which is one of the most important roles a coach plays. So I don’t think we can judge a coach’s relationship with his players by just what we see on tv, in the heat of the battle.

That said, I’d generally agree that Pope’s is the better way.
