CBers (and nutty fans) think it is.
Chip Kelly's UCLA and NFL teams were/are crappy, but he did see success at Oregon. Mac Brown has seen various levels of success at Texas and UNC... His Texas team won a NC and also had years with a worse record than BYU (same with his UNC teams).
There are too many moving parts and BYU has been in a very odd space during Kalani's tenure (independence/Covid....) and just moved to a p4 conference–playing the hardest schedule.
Many CBers (and fans in general) are just to simplistic in their diagnosis and expectations. Heck, I thought BYU was going 8-4 last year.... and it looked like they could. I was annoyed and upset with the blowouts and choke jobs. But, I coach a soccer team. I've taught players how to play... and yet we don't win every game. We miss easy shots or have a catastrophic breakdown on D. It's sports.
