Read the book outliers. Some people are in the right place at the right time.
As a sales rep for a tech company, my best years are when I just luckily happen to have the best patch. There’s obviously some talent and skill needed to be a good sales rep but I think luck and getting handed the right opportunities is a bigger factor.
