Apparently it took so long to deliver because they completely redid a lot of underlying infrastructure, for example changing it from a 12 volt to a 48 volt system, and steer by wire- both of which have never been done in cars. Also, kicking up the powertrain to 800 volts, etc.

I don't love the look of the cybertruck, but I'm tempted to get one because the underlying technical advancements are very interesting
