My son was on the basketball team last year at Eastern Arizona - Anton was not on the team with my son last year, although Anton worked out with the team (including my son) for several months in the spring when the season was over. My son become good friends with Anton. Anton called my son right after he received his offer today to ask him about BYU (my son transferred to BYU this fall and is now attending BYU). I personally watched Anton play last spring and knew he had a huge upside for having never played basketball. I watched Anton's first game this past Wednesday for Eastern Arizona and he is already vastly improved from where he was at several months ago. Anton moves very well for a big man with very little experience, and he actually shoots the ball well and has some decent handles and with some more experience could be a great player for us. I can tell you there were several D1 coaches at his first game on Wednesday and the offers could end up pouring in for Anton as he becomes more known. With more experience he could end up being a player like Matt Haarms (ironically also Dutch heritage). Eastern Arizona is building a great program and my son really liked playing for Coach Turner as last year was Coach Turner's first year coaching at Eastern Arizona. They will have one of the best JC basketball teams in the country this year. Their best player, Raysean Seamster, is one of the top JC players in the country, he is a returning player from last year.
