but unfortunately I'm on a flight from SLC to SJC right now so I can't go out tomorrow at dawn.

The terrain is a little rough on the Holbrook side of that ridge but it's pretty tame on the Mueller side. If he finds his way into one of the pipeline clearings that are on that ridge, he will be able to make his way down to a trail or road.

I hope he has a rain poncho, but at least there are many large pines to take shelter under.
