Even though I was stateside, Portland, you heard about things but never really knew the details.
Every once in awhile, I'll hear some story on a podcast or hear some song I've never heard of and then discover it happened while I was serving my mission.
The one silly thing I remember was the Nancy Carrigan/Tonya Harding story. I kept hearing odd things about it but never figured out the details until years later when I returned home.
