globally and has for centuries, even though the younger generations are always lazier and worse than the older generations.
One example: In my family, in my parents’ generation not a single woman graduated from university in either my mother’s family or my MIL’s, or my father’s or FIL’s. Many attended, but none graduated. That is 0-for-11. In my generation, in the same set of families, almost all the women attended college and graduated. 10 just among my siblings and my wife’s siblings, plus another 30+ cousins. I can only think of maybe two who didn’t finish college, and they are at the older end of the generation.
The next generation below us is still young, but is off to a great start. Every one I know of has attended college and graduated if they are old enough to do so, both men and women. And many more of the women are getting advanced degrees and getting good, professional jobs, at least so far, compared to my generation.
I suspect many families are seeing a similar pattern.
